Hy Vee - Ex employee / customer
Hy-Vee use to place customers #1 and employees #2, not anymore its about the bottom dollar. They treat employees like slave labor. Four months I worked 12+ hrs a day without a single break. The management calls you names, tryโs to be little you in front of customers and other employees. They care less about your personal life. My store director is bi polar because, one minute sheโs calling you worthless and a piece of crap and then acts like nothing ever happened.
The store director makes promises and then turns around and stabs you in the back. Not once but three times. If the corporate office knew that she treated employees this way what would happen? Absolutely nothing. Surly they have to see how many FT employees have left over being treated this way, and working without a bathroom break or lunch anything, canโt be legal.
Well after several years I had enough and resigned my position. I almost, even still considering calling KCCI news and seeing if they would like to do a story on just how unfair and mistreated Hy-Vee employees are. Itโs very sad because I really loved working their with the customers, but they sucked the life right out of everyone. Itโs all about money, and you can sure beat there all smiling to the bank with there big checks, while sticking it right up the customers and employees ***
Very very disappointed Hy-Vee!
Im afraid to even leave this because the store director will definitely try to respond in our small town.

There are labor laws about lunch break and regular breaks. You can turn them into the state.
You have to document and prove the accusations to get them charged but you can notify the labor department of the problems. Don't let them intimidate you.
Some stores have bad management, but their style of attitude runs all the way to the top. The Hy-Vee has changed over the years, tha latest change is a bean counter and he is the CEO.
